School Rules

Parents can meet the Class Teacher/Subject Teacher/In-Charge/Principal to know about the progress of their ward/s as per the schedule mentioned in the school almanac or with the prior permission/appointment. They may also get the information through the web portal of the school.

We, at YMS, aim to nurture and guide our students towards living a life of discipline and self-restraint. To that end, there are certain disciplinary modules that we expect our children to strictly abide by.

The following are certain disciplinary modulesthat work in tandem with the school’s code of conduct. Please remember that these are words of caution for the benefit of our children. Absolute compliance and serious obedience are expected from the students in all concerned areas to avoid the listed actions.

General:

Students must, at all times, behave sensibly, courteously, and with consideration for others, both in and out of school.

School Timings and Attendance:

Students must be regular and punctual in attendance at school as follows:

NURSERY WING – 5 days in a week

APRIL to OCTOBER: 7:30 am to 11:30 am

NOVEMBER TO MARCH: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

1^st ONWARDS:

• 6 days in a week
• 2^nd Saturday will be a holiday

APRIL to OCTOBER:7:30 am to 1:30 pm

NOVEMBER TO MARCH: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

Area of Concern & Action That Can Be Taken by the School:

• Coming Late to School

School gates will be shut at 8:00 am sharp. Students are supposed to use GATE No. 2 for entry and exit from the school. Half-day/Short Leaves are not allowed. In case a student comes late to school, the following actions can be taken against him/her:

• Verbal warning
• Written warning through an almanac note
• Student can be sent back home and marked absent for the day

• Bullying / aggressive behavior and use of abusive language
• Written apology to go into the student’s dossier. One copy to be retained by the class teacher.
• Counselling of students and parents
• Issue of Atonement/first Retribution Card
• Issue of second Retribution Card
• Suspension/Expulsion from school

• Irregular attendance
• Written warning through an almanac note
• Written apology to be filed into the student’s dossier
• Written information to parents

• Uninformed absence for more than six days 

Repeated absence without taking leave or unexplained absence for more than six consecutive days render the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls. Readmission in such a case may be granted only on payment of fresh admission fee, provided the seat still exists.

• Defaulters at work

Students who miss formal assessments and exams, have complaints of late submissions, and don’t get the required materials as advised by the teachers/staff are considered to be the defaulters.

• Untidy classrooms and littering the school
• Withdrawal of the recess hour

• Books (other than textbooks or library books), magazines, journals
• Valuable articles, such as expensive watches, jewellery, etc.
• Chemicals/paints of any kind

We believe that observing, encouraging, and rewarding children’s disciplined behaviour is necessary to keep them directed towards the path of righteous development. We thus always appreciate positive attributes showcased by our pupils and whole-heartedly encourage the same. The following is a list of such attributes which we consider for the assessment of ‘Positive Learning Behaviour.’

It is of utmost importance to impart health education to our children from an early age so that they can grow intofit and confident individuals.

1. All parents must ensure that children:

• Maintain and follow personal hygiene, such as trimming of nails/hair and stay neat and clean on a regular basis
• Exercise regularly
• Have a nutritionally balanced diet
• Drink enough water (either boiled or filtered) throughout the day to avoid dehydration
• Avoid consumption of eatables from roadside vendors and kiosks
• Avoid fast food
• Bring seasonal fruit to school to be consumed during the ‘Fruit Break’
• Carry paper soap to wash hands

2. All children should also:

• Have a thorough health check-up at least once every year, as per the physician’s advice.
• Have a dental and ophthalmic eye check-up done once every year by well-qualified doctors.
• Be immunised regularly against prescribed infections and diseases of all kinds.

3. Children indulging in sports and physical activities should consume liquids like juices, lemon water, glucose, etc., at regular intervals.
4. Children taking extra coaching classes must carry extra food to avoid staying empty stomach for a long duration.
5. Students suffering from diseases such as chickenpox, cholera, measles, mumps, whooping cough, and jaundice must observe the prescribed period of quarantine.
6. Students suffering from contagious diseases such as conjunctivitis, dermatitis, scabies, etc., should not be sent to school until they have fully recovered and are fit to attend classes. The same must be certified by a qualified doctor to be shown to the class teacher in the form of a medical certificate.
7. Students suffering from chronic diseases must be under the continuous medical supervision of a specialist in the concerned field. A history of their illness, along with the treatment and the names of medicines and dosage prescribed by the doctor, must be submitted to the class teacher/class coordinator as soon as the problem is diagnosed during the academic year.
8. The school must be informed regarding any injury sustained by the child, particularly if it has a lasting effect.
9. Any special medication or ailment must be brought to the notice of all the concerned authorities at school. Supporting medical documents must also be provided.
10. In case of a medical emergency, students may be advised by the school doctor to be taken back home.

• Students can avail the school transport facility subject to the availability of seats.
• Bus facility is neither mandatory nor guaranteed.
• Bus routes and stops have been finalized after a careful study. Applications for creation of a new stop or change of stop/route will not be entertained.
• Students will be held responsible for any damage caused by negligence or vandalism in the school bus.
• Unruly behavior like shrieking and shouting is strictly prohibited in the bus.
• Any act of indiscipline in the school bus on the part of a student will result in the withdrawal of bus facility.
• Bus fee for 11 months is payable by those who use school transport.
• If a student wants to withdraw from the school bus facility, parents are requested to give one calendar months’ notice in writing. Failing this, the school reserves the right to charge one month’s bus fee in lieu thereof.
• No withdrawal from bus facility is allowed after 31^stJuly of an academic year. However, the fee for the entire session will be charged if the withdrawal from the bus facility is still requested.

During the Session

• If a child has to be withdrawn from the school owing to any reason, parents are requested to give one calendar months’ notice in writing, failing which, one month’s fee will be charged in lieu thereof. An exception may be made in case of sudden transfer of Government or Defense personnel.
• In case of withdrawal in the month of May, the fee is required to be deposited for June as well.
• Transfer Certificates and other deposits will be released only after the clearance of the dues.
• The school reserves the rights to ask a student to leave the school on the following grounds:
• Disciplinary issues
• Unsatisfactory progress in work
• Detention or repeated detention in a class

Upon/Before Commencement of New Academic Session

The parents who wish to withdraw their wards from the school before the commencement of the new academic session may submit their application for withdrawal for “School Leaving Certificate” before March 31st. The withdrawal applications are accepted on any working day between 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. The School fees for the month of April will be charged for all withdrawal applications received after March 31st.
